"Whaaaat?" Theo gasped, whisking Teydrin out of the public eye. Nanny scolded furiously at the sudden movement of the baby. Teydrin did nothing. Theo thought about it, holding Teydrin up consideringly. The baby blinked. This was the most movement she'd made so far, besides kicking people. "Weeeeelll..... Okay!" And Teydrin was handed over. She'd have to be handed over permanently by the end of the sevenday anyway, so Theo might as well get used to it. Once Nari was finished coddling, Teydrin was snatched back and again hugged to Theo's chest. Thoughout the exchange, absolutely no expression had appeared on the baby's face.

To say that C'rin had been livid when the Weyrwoman decided to suddenly disappear was an understatement. Any who had chanced to assume he would be taking over her duties and dared to ask about it, Theo or the baby's birth he was apparently destined to miss soon regretted even thinking the question. No, C'rin had not been happy that he'd missed his first child's birth. He was less happy that other people in the Weyr had seen her before he had. Him! The father himself hadn't even see his kid, and apparently there were people who had. Mith just chortled about the entire situation, prodding at His and calling him a worrywort. It was cute that His was so worried over his child. C'rin did not find it 'cute' that he was worried. He found it irritating. He hadn't been able to call the Weyrwoman names or annoy her for three months and he felt like he was going to explode if he didn't do it now. So he promptly stomped around the Weyr until he saw Theo's signature platinum hair and continued stomping until he was beside her. "Oh there you are! I guess it'd be a waste of breath to yell at you for disappearing for three entire months and leaving me to-" the words fell short when his eyes landed on the child Theo held. He abruptly shut his mouth and stared at the girl, eyes a bit wide. A moment, and then, "What's her name?" It didn't even occur to him to get upset that he didn't know his own child's name, as he was a little too entranced by the violet eyes.

Teydrin's head turned, very slowly, to stare at the newcomer. Her expression did not change. Well, actually, now the blank stare could be interpreted as, should I eat this guy, or does Mum like him? Maybe I should rend him limb from limb anyway... Just to see if I could. In a montone. But anyway. Theo narrowed her eyes slightly at C'rin as he appeared, but her happiness could not be deterred by something so small as the father of her child! "Teydrin," she informed him, cuddling her squishy. "See? Your name's in it. Does that make you feel better?" She waved the baby in front of his face. "Do you want to hold her?"

C'rin was not shaken by this blank stare that spoke of a slow death in monotone. If anything, he was impressed by it. But once Theo started waving her in front of him, he panicked and snatched her from Theo's hands, holding the baby delicately. "Shards, woman! Are you trying to kill her?" Wait. Was C'rin...worried? Nah, couldn't be.

"Noooooo," Theo said, pouting. "I only did that before she was cute." . . . Did you just amit to attempted infanticide, Theo? . . . Nope. Cue shifty eyes. But anyway. When Teydrin was snatched, her eyes narrowed infinitesimally... and she kicked her father in the eye. "Baby talked," Theo said smugly. "Baby says daddy sucks."

C'rin gave her a look of horror, just before he was kicked in the eye. He sputtered and shifted the little girl into the crook of his arm, using his free hand to rub at his eye. His other eye was narrowed at Theo. "What a wonderful mother. I'm glad you wont be raising our daughter," he muttered, then proceeded to cuddle Teydrin, not seeming to mind that his eye was starting to turn a lovely shade of not-flesh. Mm, a bruise to match Mith's hide. Lovely.

Theo made a face. "I thought for sure I'd have to rescue her from you. I was positive you'd try to drown her or something because she's a girl. Didn't you say your genes were too manly to produce a girl?" She eyed him suspicously. No, he had not said that. Blacklight had narrated that. But Theo knows all. ...BEWARE! Watching her father's eye turn purple, Teydrin did something unprecedented. She.... giggled. Theo stared at her in shock. "She's a sadist!" the Weyrwoman declared. "She thinks your pain is funny! Want me to kick him, sweetie?" She was practically jumping up and down in excitement at the prospect of making her daughter happy by kicking the man.

C'rin blinked at her, then scowled. "I don't know where you got that idea from, woman." He definately wasn't going to admit to that. Nuh uh. He shifted his gaze to the baby when she giggled, and found himself grinning despite himself and despite what Theo offered to do. What a weird father. Both proud and happy that his child found his pain funny. Of course, he found other people's pain funny. Did Teydrin take after him, not just in hair, but in that aspect, too? C'rin was going to be such a proud papa. "She giggled!" he stated, rather dumbly, still grinning stupidly.

"No," Theo said in mock shock. "I had no idea." Teydrin had reverted to her usual expressionless state, and was now staring at her mother. She held out her arms to be taken from the man who was no longer amusing. If she couldn't kick him, he was no fun. "No, no, sweetie, you have to get used to being held by other people. After all, you're going to be fostered soon!" With a glance at C'rin, she added, "And then you'll neeeever have to see either of us again!"

He had been just about to glare at Theo again when her last words sank in. Or rather, hit him like a good right hook to his face. His eyes widened and he clutched at Teydrin protectively. "No." he stated, then repeated it again. "No!" He floundered for about half a second for words. "I want to watch her grow up! I want to be a part of her life! She's my daughter, I should get to!" C'rin was a bit frantic over never seeing his daughter again. He wasn't sure why, but he really, really wanted to be a father now. And if he didn't get to play father, he'd have to come up with some more kids and try again.

Theo rolled her eyes. "C'rin, you know as well as I that we can't keep her. If you want, I'll just have Bel take her. Bel's always around, so we can see her whenever we have time. We have a Weyr to run. We can't be full-time parents. Besides, there's no way I'm letting you alone with her. Ever. You'd probably eat her. So if she stays, then you're stuck with me permanently." She batted her eyelashes at him. "You don't want that, now, do you? Bel will do a fine job."

C'rin paused and continued coddling Teydrin, already used to holding a baby. Perhaps he was part woman, which would not only explain his comfort with a child, but also his moodiness. A worthwhile thing to ponder. "Well, I guess I wouldn't mind being stuck with you," he mumbled, holding the little girl up and far enough away from his face that she couldn't kick him. She was soooo adorable. C'rin started grinning again.

Teydrin staaaaared at him. This was the sort of stare that set people on fire. Theo was proud. "Oh, do be quiet. Bel will do a fine job. I've already asked her to do it, and she said yes." Theo nodded. "It'll be fine. Oh, and if you don't put her down, she's going to spit up in your face." She knew the warning signs.

C'rin started to protest, but thought better of it and reluctantly handed Teydrin back to her mother. Their next kid better love him more than Theo. Wait. Did he really just think that? No. Way. Distraction time. Except he had nothing to say, still distracted by little Teydrin. So he just glared at Theo.

Theo smirked and cuddled her baby-kins. "She likes you," she informed him when Teydrin turned her lantern-eyes on her father again. Her gaze was very slightly curious. Why on earth did this strange man dislike her mother so? Likes him. Ha. She's just wondering what he'd taste like with ketchup.
