They were going to have to give her up today. That alone was Theo's thought upon waking- miraculously, the baby hadn't kicked her in the eye at three in the morning, having apparently decided that she wasn't hungry yet- to a pair of solemn purple eyes staring straight at her. Teydrin hadn't made any noise as of yet, but for the one little giggle. However, her eyes were astonishingly communicative. Right now, they said get up and feed me, or lethal force may become necessary. Obligingly, Theo got up, picked up the baby (sparing C'rin a glance as she did so- wow, he didn't look half so evil while he was asleep... no way had she just thought anything more positive than that), and went on the Great Hunt for the bottle and the extra stores she knew Bel had snuck in to deliver last night. Bel was magical like that. She found them stored neatly on a counter, which proved the Bel-sneaking-in theory. Balancing Teydrin on her hip, she leaned against the wall and proceeded to Feed the Baby. This deserves a capital letter at the beginning because Teydrin insists upon it.

Either Theo hadn't realized that Bel sneaking in meant the Amberrider had seen the two of them in the same bed, or she didn't care. If C'rin was the type to think in the morning, he would have...Black isn't sure, because C'rin is not a morning person. So when Theo moved out of bed, he grumbled. He hadn't slept with someone in a long time, and the feeling of having a body near him had been welcome. Now that it was gone, he was grumpy. And cold. And the Weyrleader woke up, eyes slitting. He groaned and flipped over, grabbing her pillow and pulling it over his head and promptly falling right back to a restless sleep.

Theo didn't care. "How old are you, five?" Theo complained. She was actually amused by this behavior, but she certainly wasn't going to let him know that. "I thought you'd want to have another look at the baby before I hand her over to Bel." HINT. HINT.

That did manage to grab his attention. He was too groggy to remember what today meant on his own, so thank you Theo for reminding him. The pillow was clutched into his lap as he sat and stared at her blearily. "Whua?" Your squishy is being taken away today, remember? Mith had to interfere to make sure he got the idea before Teydrin was gone. C'rin seemed to perk up a little and slid to the foot of the bed. "I would like to see her...maybe hold her?" Why had he phrased that as a question? Silly, sleepy C'rin.

Theo nodded, and grinned. "Just as soon as she's finished eating, of course you can. If you interrupt her breakfast, she might try to eat you instead." And Teydrin somehow looked as though she could do it. "But then she has to go to Bel." She was horrified to find that she was reminding herself as much as him.

C'rin was doubtful over the fact that such a small girl could eat all of him, but he chose not to comment on it just in case she could. Teydrin was his daughter after all. She could probably do anything. So instead he nodded and waited for the girl to finish the bottle, rubbing at the corner of his eyes with the heel of his hand. As soon as this was over, he was going right back to sleep. "Alright." Again, too tired to really put up a protest about Teydrin being given up.

Teydrin finished eating and, typically, threw the bottle across the room. Today it smashed. This was one ridiculously strong little baby. Cooing fondly at Teydrin's 'adorable antics,' Theo forked her over. "Why are you so tired?" she asked C'rin. She knew that he hadn't missed out on sleep. They'd gone to sleep at the same time, and he'd gotten up after she did.

C'rin had held out his arms to receive the baby, and was now cuddling little Teydrin, taking care to not let her kick him in the eye. Come to think of it, he was sporting a pretty purple bruise on his eye from the previous day. "If you did anything other than ignore, yell at or hate me, you'd know I'm always tired in the morning," he grumbled, peering at his daughter through one eye. The other was swollen shut. Man, that girl can kick.

"And your options regarding me aren't ignore, yell at, or hate?" Theo demanded. She wasn't really angry. Arguing was just an automatic response. "Does your eye hurt?" Demands and them sympathy. Good gods, Theo was strange... Teydrin's eyes were still solemn, as though she were completely innocent.

C'rin believed those eyes, and squished little Teydrin quite happily. "I know more about you than you know about me," he flicked his eyes up at the Weyrwoman, as if daring her to ask him something. He did pay attention to what she said and how she acted, despite what she might think. And he hadn't really ignored her much that last three months before she'd left. Oh, of course there had been yelling...and mild hate...but not ignoring.

And Teydrin... contrary to all appearances, Teydrin was quite happy to be squished. Theo's eyes narrowed. That was a challenge! "Oh, really. What do you know about me that I don't know about you?!" It was a barely sensical question. Was sensical even a word? Or did it only come with non- attached to the front?

C'rin kept most of his attention on the baby, knowing how he reacted to challenges. "What you want, almost more than anything," he was playing a card he wasn't sure of. If he was right, then he was more perceptive than he looked. If he was wrong...well, Theo would gloat at him. What else was new?

"Is...?" Theo said, raising her eyebrows. Hell, she wasn't sure what she wanted almost more than anything. Only Nai knows. Time for smugness. It's reaaaaaally sappy, though, so Nai is almost positive that C'rin will not say it.

He squished Teydrin once more. "A family who loves you. Or at least, someone who does. A normal someone." Okay, just one more time with the squishing. If he was going to get thrown off the ledge, he wanted to remember how his little girl felt in his arms.

Theo nearly fell over with shock. It was sappy. And C'rin had said it. And it was damn true. Well.... uh... shards. What did she do now? Throwing him off the ledge wouldn't work, since he was holding the baby. Agreeing wouldn't work, because then he'd taunt her. And disagreeing... well, what could she say?! She settled for blinking a lot. Then she said, "That was... not what I expected you to say."
