"I didn't think you'd want to be!" Theo snapped. "It isn't exactly pretty, you know! It's not like- it's not like- Why do you even care?!" she demanded. "You didn't say you didn't want me to go!" This made no sense, since there really hadn't been any reason for her to go in the first place. "Men tend to faint at these things!" she added, deeming this an important piece of information. "And I stay away from you because you said you wanted me to! Don't you remember?! You said that you'd prefer to have to look at me as little as possible, so I obliged you, and now you're yelling at me for it."

"I am not yelling!" Okay, maybe he was, but the poor man was confused now. He had said he wanted to see her as little as possible, and certainly meant it then. But time had passed, and now he felt differently. Shards, he felt differently from moment to moment, think of what a year entailed. C'rin toned his voice down and looked away. "It's my first child, of course I'd want to be there. Ask Mith how he'd feel if he wasn't allowed to see his children hatch." The Darkness was still asleep, so he didn't respond to that. "Most men tend to. I am not most men," he sniffed, a bit conceitedly. He was still C'rin after all.

"Yes you are!" He was. He was totally yelling at her. And he had said that! "I didn't think it was the same. You said get out of your sight, so I did. For an extended period of time. And I came back with something you liked! Shouldn't that have been a win-win situation? You don't have to look at me and you get the baby. Shouldn't that have made you happy?!" She was upset, needless to say. "I just wanted to make you happy, shardit!"

Anything he might have said was promptly discarded and forgotten. C'rin returned his gaze to her, studying to see if she would laugh after her last statement. When she didn't, he sighed and forced himself to think of something to say. Something intelligent, preferably. But all bets were off, because Theo had given him something completely unexpected. "You just," he started, tone bordering on doubtful, "wanted to make me happy?" He paused again, worrying his lip a moment, then burst out with what he'd realy wanted to say. "Since when do you want me to be happy?"

"Since I do!" Theo shot back, glaring at him. "What's it to you?!" Okay, stupid question, but she wasn't about to take it back. She crossed her arms with a huff. Unfortunately, this movement knocked her hair- which really was too long... it was her one point of vanity, though, and she couldn't bring herself to cut it- into her face. So now she looked ridiculous, and he couldn't see her pissed-off expression. She literally shuddered with rage at her hair and released her arms to brush it away with harsh, jerky movements, growling incoherently at herself as she did so.

C'rin was trying to make an effort to be calm, and so took the time to think about his words before he spoke them. Besides, it was hard to say anything while he was trying not to laugh at her. His amusement was clear as he stepped forward, swatting at her hands and taking care of her hair himself. He was gentle as his hand brushed over her hair, pushing it back into place. "What's it to me?" he murmured, still very amused. Black swears he's not a woman with mood swings. Plus, C'rin is turning into a parrot. "Well it, um...." he forced himself to keep his eyes on her, having already determined to be honest. "It makes me happy," he admitted, hand still somewhere in her hair. Granted, the last time he'd touched her hair had been...bad.

He wasn't going to pull her hair out again, was he? Well, what else was she supposed to think? Though she didn't move, her eyes swiveled suspiciously in an attempt to examine her possible predicament as her hands lowered slowly to her side. When nothing happened (well, nothing involving pain), she relaxed. "Ah... good..." she said vaguely. She would never ever ever admit that the hand in her hair was distracting her in a way other than the 'is he going to yank it out' sort. "Since that was... ah... my intention."

When she didn't move to swat at his hand, he left it there, fingers twisting lightly into it. Nothing more than a gentle tug and fingertips brushing against her scalp before he withdrew his hand and stuffed it in a pocket. She had really nice hair. He needed to stop touching it or he'd never get his hand back. "You have nice hair." Wait. That wasn't what he'd wanted to say. Shards. He'd wanted to say something witty, but his mind had been a little too attached to her hair to say anything else.

Theo stared at him. Well... that had been.... unexpected...? "Thank... you...?" She was so confused at this point that she didn't know what to do with herself. Then she heard it. Thump. The look of horror on her face was unsurpassed in the history of either world. "Grrrrachk!" she shrieked. It wasn't a word; it went straight for emotion in sonic form. She spun on her heel and dashed back into the main room, expecting blood and gore and total horror- and instead saw that Teydrin had gotten bored and kicked a pillow off of the bed. Theo waved her arms around, her mouth working in incoherent... incoherency. A little 'kkkkch'ing noise was all that escaped her throat as her hands flapped desperately about.

Thankful was the wrong word. C'rin was estactic about the distraction. He'd effectively made the situation far more awkward than it already was, and apparently none of them had anything to say after that. Sometimes it was just easier to be mean. He knew what to say when he was being mean. However, that moment of thankfulness was gone as he rushed after Theo, peeking around the doorway to see what had happened. He surmised pretty quickly what had happened, and bit his lip in an effort to not laugh at how ... worried Theo looked. C'rin moved up behind her and swept her hair away, kissing the back of her neck. If anything, it should distract her from her worry over what might have happened to Teydrin.

Theo's fingers were twitching from the suddenly released tension, hands level with her ears and flapping wildly. She ignored C'rin as he crossed the room mainly because she hadn't noticed him. Teyrdin had turned her head to give her a Look, which communicated boredom and silent mocking. Did you really believe that I'd fall off? the Look said. Stupid mommy. Of course, then C'rin had to go and ruin her lovely little panic attack by being unexpected again. Theo froze, both confused and... well... mostly confused, but the little bit of her brain that wasn't was doing a victory dance. This dance was quickly halted when the confused bits clubbed the dancer over the head, stuffed socks in its mouth, and threw it in a closet. Because Theo's mind so has closets. She turned her head slowly, trying to see him without moving her body- this was an attempt to figure out what the shard was going on.

If you told C'rin that, he'd believe it. He himself sports many dark corners, which is confusing to look at because there should be four corners, not...as many as there were. As it was, he wasn't exactly in a dark corner at the moment, which was rare for him. He grinned cheekily at her, stepping around into her view. "Hello!" he grinned wider. He might enjoy this if he could get her to make that face more often. It was amusing.

"Hello?" Theo repeated thickly. Deciding that this was uninteresting, Teydrin went back to her study of the ceiling. "Why... ah... oh... what the shard..." She made a face, and glared at him. "You... grrrarrrrgghh... Oh, whatever." She stalked forward a step, seized his shirt collar, and dragged him down to her own level, where she proceeded to kiss him, just to prove she could. Then she shoved him away- gently- and stomped around him to pick up the baby. "Let's go hand her over before we decide we can't," she said, not looking at him, and went out the door. HA. Let him chew on THAT.

However, he would not enjoy this if she did more things like that. Or wait. He tried that thought again. C'rin did, in fact, think he would enjoy it if more things like that happened. Just so long as he didn't stutter and stare at her. It was probably good she didn't look at him. Even better that she walked out the door. It let him fumble for his shirt and try to pull it on. However, he was a little too distracted to do it right the first time and had to do it again. Once he got the shirt on, he stumbled out after Theo and the baby. He decided actually looking at her might make him stutter more - since when did she do things like drag him down for a kiss? - he tilted his head down to smile at Teydrin, reaching over to poke her cheek.

Theo was marching. She had a particular way of walking when she was upset, and it was a march, military and even, her nose defiantly in the air, daring the world at large to bother her, because she would let them have it. Usually, it was C'rin who was idiot enough to ask for it. But that wasn't the point. It was sort of cute, she had to admit, the lightning-quick way Teydrin reached up in an attempt to beat the smithereens out of C'rin's finger. He was just lucky she didn't have proper teeth at the moment, or Theo was positive he would have been chomped. As it was, the sudden link forced the Weyrwoman to slow down so that her determined child would not be ripped from her arms when C'rin invariably walked too slowly. She made a noise of impatience in the back of her throat. The sooner they got there, the sooner she could run off and beat her head against K'lee's favorite wall and think up a good excuse as to why she had just done that. It had been to prove that he didn't bother her. Yep. That was it. The victory-dancing bit of her brain, which was now making 'mmmmph! mmmph! mmmmmmppppphhhhh!' noises as it attempted in vain to have its say, was promptly kicked.
