C'rin pursed his lips and withdrew his finger, wiping it on his shirt. He didn't mind so much, but he thought it might be a good thing to not let Teydrin gnaw on people's fingers. Though it would be amusing to see a grown woman run around biting people. Putting aside the thought, he glanced up at Theo when she made the irritated noise. With a great deal of control, and one deep breath, he flashed her his best, most annoying pleasant smile. "Have something to say, Theo?" Even if his thought process had crashed into each bit before it, effectively knocking the little train off its tracks, he could still muster some sort of ...C'rin-like conversation. As he ambled beside her, hands behind his back, he kept his eyes on her, trying to decide if he wanted to act differently now, after this morning. He honestly didn't know.

"Yes." Theo said flatly. That smile was really pissing her off. "And here it is: someday, somewhere, someone is going to kill you and throw your body in the volcano if you ever make that face again." With a 'hmph!' she turned on her heel and continued down the hall. Her dramatic exit was ruined, however, when she tripped over a loose stone. The drama was further ruined when she made a 'fwack' noise as her foot caught. As soon as she had decided that she wasn't going to fall and kill the baby, she had to bite her lip to keep from cursing colorfully. SHARDIT- why couldn't she do anything right?! Pouting, she turned back to C'rin. It must be karma. "Blah, blah, blah, sorry for saying someone was going to murder you." There, karma fixed. "Let's go!"

He kept the smile up, and couldn't help that his natural inclination was to laugh at her trip. At least he had the decency to turn around and smother it. C'rin wasn't even bothered by her proclaimation of his death, since he was used to that. Much more used to that than a kiss. Once the need to laugh had passed, he turned back, smile reappearing at the apology. "Oh, Theo. Have you gone daft or have I? I swear I just heard you apologize. To me." C'rin feigned shock and moved back to her side, grinning away. Shards, he'd missed her company. Not that he'd admit it. Or maybe he would, in the right time.

"The world hated me because I'm not allowed to make death threats just because your face is annoying so shut up right now before I shut you up for you and I don't want to do that in front of the baby so just shut up!" All one sentence, all in one breath. Wow. She glared at him, aware that her expression was extremely childish. The leftover pout didn't help either- her lower lip was jutting out petulantly. "Can we just go, please?" GAH! A please. Today was just getting weirder and weirder. In her brain, something grabbed her inner ear- for mistress victory dance had bitten Wrath, spit out the socks, and run screaming and had now decided to harass her- and asked why in the world she was yelling at him. And, as she looked him up and down as if to find the source of her irritation in his very appearance (other than the annoying face bit), why he had just had to go and put his shirt back on. What. The. Frick. Yes, frick. It was Theo's official new brainword. "I didn't just think that!" she informed the world at large and, with an overly dramatic twirl, turned to continue marching down the hall.

"Hm!" C'rin just grinned, head tilted over to one side to watch her. He didn't say anything to her impossibly long sentence, or to her please. His thoughts on those were clear enough by the way he said nothing. She'd known him long enough that he didn't have to articulate. Because he wasn't looking where he was stepping (choosing rather to look at her eyes), he stumbled once he noticed her gaze slipped over him. What? What? Did she just check him out? Awkward. But still...nice to know that she...found him...attractive? Awkward thought. He didn't fall, thank Farath. But he did give her a wary look. "Think what?"

"That if I killed you, my clothes would become irreparably stained!" It was the first thing to pop into her brain; therefore she said it. "You are a jerk." She nodded as if to reinforce her statement. She paused suddenly, foot freezing mid-step. "I want a pie." It was not quite obvious where this had come from. It was a Theo-moment. Well, actually it was a Nai-moment, since today is Nai's Purple day for this week and she is feeling spontaneous and weird. Anyway. Theo's foot resumed movement. "Better now!" she announced, suddenly cheerful again. They were almost there- hence the strange mood swings. Her brain was dealing with both this and the new corner of it now named That Strange Squiggly Feeling, therefore she was stranger than usual.

C'rin gave her a long look, and then decided to let it all slide. She'd switched subjects so rapidly that he hadn't been able to keep up with her, and so couldn't come up with something snarky to say. He blinked, then looked down the hall. "Then let's go get a pie after we drop Teydrin off," he offered. Also placed a hand on her back to start guiding her again. He did want to keep Teydrin, but Theo was acting odd...well, more odd than usual, and he was pretty sure it had something to do with the baby.

"Okay!" How easily she agreed. Usually her first thought would have been, 'is he going to poison me?' However, at the moment, she just wanted pie. And she didn't even see anything weird about his hand on her back or with the fact that he responded to a request for pie with an offer for pie. In the familiar universe they had at least used to live in, he would have laughed and aggravated her until she hit him. But he hadn't. ...weird. Theo raised a hand to knock on Bel's door, paused, and then knocked. Bel appeared. It was like magic. She just... materialized. Freakeh. "Hello!" she said brightly. Past her, it was just possible to see Winth obsessing over the latest batch of Weyrbrats she was looking after; including Teydrin, there would be three. "Why don't you come in? There are some things that must be discussed!" Theo shrugged. This woman was alltogether too cheerful to be human.

While Theo didn't seem to care that Bel was abnormally happy, the Weyrleader did. His eye twitched. He hated overly cheery people. He thought about letting Theo handle everything, but one glance at the baby and he sighed and resolved to struggle through this. Maybe if he got lucky he wouldn't yell and throw things at the Amberrider for being so...happy. Shudder. "How long will this take?"

"Only a few minutes!" Bel chirped. She reached out for Teydrin. Theo stared at her hands, which twitched in encouragement. After a moment, the baby was handed over. "Okay!" Bel beamed. "Rule one! No interfering! I will have to be in complete control over little Teydrin's upbringing, including education, diet, and hours. Consistency, my dear Weyrleaders." Theo could feel her eye twitching. "Rule two! You can see Teydrin, of course, but you can't act like parents. the Weyrwoman can act like the slightly mothering aunt, and the Weyrleader can be the scary uncle who tries to eat the baby, but not mommy and daddy, momma and papa, or even mum and da. It would be best if you acted only as Weyrleaders, actually." Theo grimaced. She didn't like that one. "Last rule! Teydrin will refer to you as 'Weyrleader' and 'Weyrwoman,' or maybe as 'Theora' and 'C'rin.' It will be as if you are not related. Understand? All right, we're finished. Bye-bye now!" And, with a strange sort of magic, she had them out of the room and shut the door. Whoa. How did that just happen?

C'rin was given no time to respond to anything, which he did not like. Granted, it was all over with very quickly, like being shoved into a freezing lake. Which he did and did not like. As was seen by how he immediately turned to grapple at the door, which Black is guessing Bel had the brains to lock. Once that option was exausted, he turned on Theo. "What kind of monster have you given our child to?" He suddenly remembered that she said she'd wanted pie and so grabbed her and started dragging her off towards the dining room. He wanted pie now, if only because eating made him feel better. "Next time, we're raising our own kids!" he announced, not at all thinking through that. Since when had they decided to have more kids?

"A crazy oneeeeeeeeeeeee-?!" Theo's voice trailed off in a squeak as she was dragged away from the door. "What next time?!" She had no idea what was going on at this point, but her subconscious saw pie in the immediate future and was greatly comforted by this fact. "Since when are we having more?! Do you know something I don't know?!" How could he? They hadn't even seen each other for three months, and she'd certainly remember if they'd done something!

He stopped and stared at her. "What? Huh?" He hadn't been paying attention to whatever he'd been saying, but he realized it now. And blinked. "I...want more children..." C'rin was hideously uncomfortable with this, and let go of her to cross his arms. "Actually, I'd just like a child. Since Teydrin isn't ours anymore. And..." He shook his head, turned around and made a beeline for the kitchens. The Weyrleader was not stupid enough to admit what he'd just been thinking. Theo would freak on him.

"And what?" Theo gasped, disturbed beyond all reason by this sudden admission. Had he ever said anything to this effect before? Her mind tripped over itself trying to remember a similar statement, but it wouldn't find one. She swallowed, and her voice was more normal as she followed and repeated the question. "And what?"

C'rin shook his head, refusing to say. She's had to do better than just pester him if she wanted to hear that thought. "And I want pie. So let's go."
