Name: Raiden
Age: 17 Turns
Appearance: Standing at an average 5’4”, Raiden has straight brown hair grown to about halfway down her chest, with gray eyes. From one angle, these eyes appear a dark blue, a revealing of the subtle flecks of this color. She is made on a slender build, but never particularly athletic. She has very little figure to speak of, but really doesn’t mind, because maybe people would get to know her for her rather than for her physical assets. It’s one of those things she thinks about.
Personality: The Story of the Life of Raiden can be summed up with one phrase: unfortunately accident-prone. She doesn’t have balance problems, and she isn’t a klutz. Really. But whenever she’s around, something dangerous is bound to happen. And it usually falls on top of her head. Sometimes it gives her a concussion. When she isn’t in danger of her life, she’s very understanding. A gentle person, she was generally well-disposed to taking care of her sister when the illness got, invariably, worse. And then better. And worse again. And back and forth and back and forth and so on. This takes much patience, which Raiden usually has. She does have an unfortunate habit of snapping after about seven months or so of endless trouble, and then she sulks for a few days, and then it’s hello-little-miss-sunshine-and-rainbows-and- where’d she go? Oh, she fell on her face again. She’s generally very calm, but if anything will get her angry it’s a questioning of her or her sister’s fitness to do whatever it is they want to do. She loves heights and will climb a tree to its highest, and potentially most dangerous, branches just to feel closer to the sky. She has a nearly unhealthy obsession with flying. Probably because being earth-bound has never helped the state of her body, which is usually some sort of pain. She’s usually very business-minded, and wants to get things done. Unfortunately, the latest medical disaster usually prevents major progress. And all of her paperwork has blood on it. When she sits safely in a chair or stands still on a fairly flat, stable surface, she’s extremely efficient. Despite her accident-prone nature, she is determined to live life to its fullest, perhaps because she grew up afraid that any day now she wouldn't be able to live it with her sister. Even now that Sia is gone, she is still determined not to miss out on anything. Which, of course, leads to more falls off of things, often low cliffs or yet more trees. Drawing is not a hobby to Raiden- it’s nearly an obsession. She will draw anything and everything, beautiful detailed sketches that several people will swear are breathing. Of course, she often hits her head, so that may explain why she sees that… Throughout her life, Raiden has had to take care of someone or another, whether it be her mother or her sister or one of the many random strays she somehow picks up along the way. (This partially indulged Sia’s adoration of ‘fluffy cute things’.) This has made her extremely responsible and entirely capable of caring for herself and others (when she doesn’t have a concussion, in which case she is likely to be found talking to trees for a few hours before she recovers). Often kind nearly to a fault, she’ll look over her own well-being in favor of everyone else’s.
History: An ex-dragonrider, Raiden’s and Nastusia’s mother was never quite right. Both of the girls were born after her Green was killed in a mating-flight battle with another Green, and after that happened, she left the Weyr, and, being-Weyrbred, could find nothing to do with herself and somehow ended up as a, shall we say, ‘woman of negotiable affections.’ And not a very good one at that. She had no idea how to protect herself from pregnancy, and thus we have Raiden and Nastusia- Nastusia first. They mostly took care of themselves, following their mother around on her ‘errands’ and begging for anything they could get on the side. They did not steal. They have always had a strict moral code against stealing and anything criminal in any way- though, technically, begging was sometimes punished. That one didn’t count. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Neither girl knows who her father is, and that’s caused a lot of insecurity for both of them. From such a life, the two have developed an incredibly close bond- they would call it telepathic. Their mother died several Turns ago, and in their wanderings they ended up being Searched by the only Weyr left, Noelan. That was just before the massacre. Sia got much worse quite quickly, and it became obvious that she was soon going to die. Raiden can almost be glad that Nastusia- Sia- was killed in the huge disaster. At least her death was quick, rather than the agonizingly slow, painful one she was already on the path towards. Though the death wasn't at all pleasant- the wooden extension of the Candidate's barracks (which had been added because there had been so many dragons and so many Candidates) had been set on fire. Sia had been inside.
Companions: Black Thunder, Violet Lightning
Rule Remark: (only needed for first character)
Dragon Name and Color: Storm Adath
Dragon Appearance: Sleek and elegant, Adath is the envy of every other male who would care about such things, and turns female heads. He is the rich purple-gray of a storm cloud (wow.. Storm and Cloud... dude....), with a white band around his throat and a white strike of lightning across his face. In several places, the billowing purple and gray give way to midnight blue, indicating a tumultous night sky behind the clouds. At full length, he is ridiculously huge, having reached his full potential of one hundred and sixty five feet in length. As such, he really does not look like a dragon you want to cross.
Dragon Personality: For all his frightening appearance, Adath is in general a very gentle creature. He is quiet and very intelligent, rivaling in this respect an Opal. His one problematic point (other than the typical, frequent moodswings of any Storm) is his fierce overprotectiveness of Raiden. If anyone is a threat to her, he is instantly on the defensive, which will eventually lead to many accidentally crushed buildings and trees though, hopefully, no people. Since Raiden lives by Murphy's Law, Adath is often sent into a panic over her. Unfortunately, Adath is impeded by his heart. Born with a slight defect, it is easily strained, and may one day cause a premature death.
