Faranth.
B’aral rubbed the side of his head, staring down at his now quite mangled and long skin. He checked the diagram that he had painstakingly drew to the marks on the Weyrbowl floor.
Right.
They matched.
They were also completely removable! That would make the Weyrwoman happy. B’aral told Slornth to dive, and the dragon did with a sigh. The dragon didn’t mind being up in the air. He missed it, as all B’aral had been doing for the past Turn was locking himself up in his weyr. Not much fun.
As the pair dived for the ground, B’aral looked to where some of the candidates had placed firestone in the bags and in the firepits. Yes, the Weyr had firepits too, not just the holds. This was going to be a fun –sarcasm on B’aral’s part- lesson!
The brownrider and dragon landed and B’aral landed lightly on his feet. He wasn’t going to make any more corrections. No.

The sections had been divided so that each Weyrling would have enough space for their dragon and themselves to comfortably practice with Firestone! Yes, the dangerous material. B’aral scampered up to the practice ledge, where he would direct all of the Weyrlings and now full-grown –but still Weyrling!- dragons.
The brownrider would be conduction the lesson through Slornth, as his voice wasn’t loud enough when he spoke to ring through the Weyrbowl, even though it was loud, and B’aral had no desire to loose his voice.
After the Weyrlings had arrived, B’aral started to describe what this combined lesson was going to do.
“Hello all! Welcome to your last Weyrling lesson! Isn’t that great?” His voice sounded slightly manic here.
“So, anyway, today we shall be learning several things! One! How to chew firestone and clean up the ashes! Your dragon will regurgitate ashes after they have finished chewing firestone, and have belched flames, so be warned. Two! How to do this while flying! This will be important, even if there is no Thread! It’s a good…. Thing to be able to do to… impress people.” Those pauses were significant.
“And! The thing you’ve all been waiting for! Betweening!” He smiled at them all. And then proceeded to tell them how to give their dragon the stone, and then, when they’d all mastered this, how to do it in the air.
“Oh! And before you all scoot off to practice, remember that test I mentioned?” His eye held an evil glint.
“Well, I shall be calling you up one by one and quizzing you about them. After today, if you’ve successfully completed all the lessons, which you all have, then you will be full riders with your own weyr! You will still be in my wing, until your dragon rises or chases, so you will still report to me. Okay, Bone Baynath to L'ros you two go first!”
The list went as follows:
Bone Baynath to L'ros
Blue Salaronth to J’ise... or J’se….
Bone Justith to K'fe
Winter Blizzarth to T'ri
Gem Misoriath to Kayla
Black Purplath to F'sal
Spector Marinoth to K'rion
Green Saristh to Perdido
Violet Laynath to Kindre
Rain Lilith to Z'them
Storm Adath to Raiden
Bloodrose Dusth to Pandra
Coral Reath to Luciana
When they had all answered correctly, B’aral waved them off to start the firestone practice. When they had all finished, he got them into line, and they took off to practice betweening.
“To between, you need to be able to completely visualize where you are going. This is important, as betweening is the most dangerous thing you will be doing on dragonback, and probably off of dragonback. When you have the picture as clear in your mind as though you were seeing it-“ The pair winked out, and appeared by the feeding pens, then winked out again, and appeared next to them.
“- you can give your dragon the order to go between, and give them the picture, and they shall do it. Now, I want you all the picture the scene from above the weyrling pens, as I know you’ve seen it when you and your dragon have gone their together. I want you to picture it, and transfer between.”
When they had all done this, and then flown back, B’aral smiled at them.
“Congrats, you’re all full-fledged riders!”
