Lykath was not happy, this time, about letting Candidates come in and touch her eggies. They were her squishies. Besides, letting the Touching begin was like saying that they were halfway to Hatching, and once her children Hatched she didn't have an anchor. If she didn't have an anchor, then Mine didn't have an anchor.
Fortunately for the Candidates (or those who were left), she didn't have a choice.

Zen was, she noticed briefly, the first one on the sands. She bowed to the dragoness whose clutch she was touching, and briefly wondered where to go first. No idea, and so Zen just walked around gingerly on the warm sands, her eyes straying from one egg to another. Presently she touched one, and it felt warm to the touch. Of course it felt warm to the touch, Zen! There was a dragon in it! She smiled to herself as she went to touch another.

Despite much bickering and whining and complaining on the part of her companions, Galiana actually managed to keep them quiet as she made her way into the sands, Asheya and Xanthe upon each of her shoulders while the other flitted carefully above to settle upon the ledges usually occupied by dragons. This was no Hatching, however, merely a Touching, so they needn't fear being snapped up by an angry... something or other. Well, maybe they did... if they wandered too close to the Clutchmother, she suspected they just might be met with a less than friendly response.
They behaved, however, with their lives in potential danger, and Asheya and Xanthe both worked to keep them quiet so that Galiana could be left to her own thoughts for once. She stepped lightly across the hot sands, halting before the queen and bowing respectfully towards her, keeping a cautious distance from the broody beast while she sidled over towards the eggs. She wasn't the first one there, and the other girl was already touching them, so she inched slowly closer to one, running her hands softly over its surface, marveling at its warmth. The life within it pulsed beneath her fingertips, coaxing a small smile to her face and croons from her firelizards' throats.
She moved onto another egg soon after, taking care to give each of them the same amount of attention, favoring none of them above the others, though she approached the Queen egg with a bit more caution, watching Lykath carefully, not wanting to offend the mother. She was distracted from the egg, given this, and only a sharp reprimand from Asheya caused her to snap her attention back to it, actually studying its shape and its color as she did with all the others...
"Beautiful." She murmured, smiling a bit as she turned to survey all of the eggs once more, her fingers still tingling with the warmth from each one.
****
Sharding girl with her sharding million and a half firelizards... Eremos was glowering at a Red that was settled above as he moved into the sands, making a face at the creature as it hissed at him and flared its wings angrily. He hadn't done anything, he was just walking...
Dumb firelizard. He turned his glare to the girl with one on each shoulder, making a face at her as well before moving towards the Clutchmother, remedying his expression and changing it to one of respect as he bowed to her, arms slightly outstretched in a nice way, his bright eyes glinting slightly as they surveyed the beautiful Queen.
He tossed his head slightly to dislodge his bangs before turning his attention to the eggs themselves, striding over to one and running his hands over it, smiling a bit for the warmth that spread beneath his fingertips.
****
Nata was all a jumble of emotions as she entered the Sands, odd little twitches in her movements hinting at her desire to bounce up and down for joy, though there was something reserved in her also... the sight of the eggs was a magnificent one, and the Mist Queen herself was beautiful... she could barely remember the way that her mother's dragon had looked, but she could find ghosts of the dragon in almost every female that she saw, just as she saw flickers of Viseth in every male.
She winced slightly and shook her head a bit before continuing forward, spreading her arms and bowing low to Lykath, smiling softly at the female before turning to face the eggs. A smallish number, but a beautiful clutch nonetheless. Even a Queen egg, she noticed, continuing to smile as she moved forward.
The ribbon in her hair was a soft, pale blue color, and it trailed gently behind her as she moved, fluttering slightly and falling to rest against her back when she stopped before an egg. The smallest one of the clutch. She ran her hands over it gently, feeling the life pulse within it, and she continued to smile.
If only her father could be here to see...
Sighing somewhat, she moved to another egg. A slightly larger one, and followed the same process, trailing palms and fingertips across its surface.

( Short because I have lots to do. >< )
C'rin was not present, and nor did he intend to be present. At least, not until Mith got fidgety enough to leave Lykath's company and drag His to the Sands. As it was, the Weyrleader was more than content to sleep through the entire Touching.
--
Leorin came plodding in, eyes watching the spot his feet would touch next. Ho hum. Another Hatching, and this one smaller than the rest. It really was doubtful that he would Impress. He sighed deeply and resigned himself to this thought.
Even so, if wouldn't hurt to touch a few eggs, would it?
--
A stark contrast to the latest Candidate was the newest. Kyretia bounded into the Sands, not at all worried over the small clutch. What did he care? If he Impressed - great! If not - also great! He would have time to look after the abandoned animals of the Weyr. And he had his firelizards, so he wouldn't be too lonely.
But oh, he'd still love to have a dragon of his own!
With a goofy smile plastered on his face, Kyre found himself next to the particuarly gloomily beautiful looking young man. He had no idea what his name was, but touched his elbow anyway.
"Isn't this just so exciting?" he squeed, not really caring how the emo boy felt about overflowing happiness.

Eremos spazzed a little... just a little, and he still looked pretty, so it didn't really matter. Point being that the girl... no, it was a boy, had startled him. Androgynous people just seemed to have a gift for being able to recognize other androgynous people, and Eremos was no different. So he couldn't use to 'dumb girl' excuse, and 'dumb boy' had some connotations to it that might suggest all boys were dumb...
Why the heck was he analyzing this? He'd jerked his hands away from the medium-sized egg when he'd been startled, but he returned them to the smooth surface soon enough, sliding fingertips and palms gently over the warmth, caressing it... no, it wasn't creepy. He just... kind of wanted to steal away with one of them. So that he could cuddle it. It was so very warm...
He glanced towards Lykath then, hoping she hadn't picked up on that thought. He would never actually try to steal one, of course... it was more of a compliment. That they were... warm.... ? ;>.>
"Yes, riveting." He murmured sarcastically, though the softness in his eyes betrayed his own excitement. Truth was, he was beside himself with joy at the prospect of being able to Impress... but he wouldn't let the strange, random girlish boy know that, he thought, moving to another, smaller egg. He would touch all of them... even the Queen egg, probably, just because. He wondered if the larger ones were warmer...

Tilliara hadn't been around the people of the Weyr much. It wasn't that she hated them or anything, but she didn't much care to be around other people. Solitude had made her who she was. Solitude was what she was used to, and so she didn't have much use for people really. She hadn't really depended on anyone since her mother had died, and thus she didn't want to start growing too close to any one person right now. Especially with the disease around. That would just cause undue grief should they get sick and die.
But when Tilliara had heard of the Touching that was going to happen, it had been an offer of a chance that she couldn't give up. A dragon was a different sort of companion. And the fact that she might stand and Impress at said hatching of said eggs drew her to it.
So Tilli came out of her shell of anti-social-ness and had actually tried on the new tunic and breeches she'd acquired, and slipped on her worn travel boots to go. For this case, she pulled her hair back out of her face, trying her best to hide the oily and dirty mess that it was.
She headed onto the sands, looking at the eggs with awe. They were... amazing. There weren't a large, huge amount, but they still awed her near to the core. She loved the idea of being able to... touch them.
She bowed respectfully to Lykath, before walking over. The Queen egg caught her eye, as it did many girls. Awed by it, she wasn't sure if she should touch it first. So she touched one of the smaller eggs first, running her hand over it in amazement, carefully.
She touched one more egg, before slowly and respectfully going over to gently touch the Queen egg, letting her hand drift across it gently. She revelled at each egg she touched. It was truly wonderful.

Why am I here again? Narina thought, a bit bitterly, to herself as she stood in the entrance way to the hatching sands. She had heard about the egg touching and decided that it couldn't hurt to go and see the eggs. Not that she was overly interested in impressing. It's not like she needed a dragonling around her 24 hours a day to bug her and complain about itchy skin and being hungry. She already had Aziza. Who else did she need?
Who needs people...
She did. Not that she would ever admit it, or even realize it. As far as she was concerned, she was perfectly fine of being by herself. Which is what she wanted right now, she hadn't expected this many people to be down here already. Shards. Just what she was trying to avoid. Well, might as well do what she came all the way down here for. Maybe if she was lucky she could spend a few moments with the eggs and inconspicuously make her way out again.
Aziza gave her an encouraging little croon from her shoulder and Narina stepped onto the warms sands and made her way to the eggs. Giving a small, polite bow to Lykath, she then ghosted her hand over the nearest egg, feeling the warmth radiating from the smooth shell.

((Eremos: Still the prettiest! XD))
Tanevi entered and touched eggs. Avi doesn't like these things much. >.<

Ami's Three candidates are there, making trouble -not enough to draw Lykath's attention, however-, bickering, and, in general, being themselves. Ami will get around to updating this later.

May stepped in, her feet protected by her thick soled boots, regardless of whether or not she was really supposed to have them on the sands. Her step was light, trying to seem graceful but surefooted in what may be her partner for life's presence. Even if they were still in eggs. And probably could not see her. So it may not matter. She pressed the thoughts from her mind, stepping closer to the first egg she saw, kneeling before it to reach out and trace a finger over its surface.
