Yes, it was time.
Nari had been noticing the color shift in Depth's hide for several months now, but she hadn't said anything to anyone. She hadn't expected it to take so long, but still, it was happening.
Depth was rising.
The sky was a dark, stormy gray, and although it was almost three in the afternoon, it looked like it was six or seven. It was just that sort of gloomy day, which never-the-less makes people feel good about being inside or being sick.
And Depth woke, her eyes whirling a mixture of confused colors as she spread her iridescent wings and made for the feeding grounds. Nari made no attempt to stop her dragon feasting, as Depth was a red, and therefore didn't clutch. There was no point in wasting energy. Nari just stood in her weyr, feeling Depth's emotions wash over her as her dragon bugled a challenge to all the males who dared to come and chase her to see if they could win her in heart, mind, and body.
Let the chase begin!

((I wish I could bring in an NPC, but I sadly can't since the only riders alive are those roleplayed by people...))

Depth! Yay! I want to chase! K'lee, who had no idea what his dragon was blabbering about now, stared out the window into the dismal rain. He... didn't like rain, but he didn't hate it. Whatever. "Sure, Calth. Whatever you- WAIT! NO!" Too.... Late!
Slornth raise his head from his stone couch. He had been observing B'aral as the man ran around happily, trying to get rid of the angst of working. HE WAS FREEEEEE! I chase. The normally silent brown commented as he spread his wings.

Faith shifted his weight from side to side as he watched the Red from his own weyrledge. This was perfect. He would be the highest-ranked to chase- he would have the best endurance, if not the best speed. If necessary, he could eliminate the smaller competition... His would not like that, and he would be a bit sad to disappoint K'lian, but he needed to catch that Red. It was essential that he won her. So he took off, bugling a reply to her challenge.
Shinth considered Chasing.. and then.... decided that it was too pointless. R'hel snored.

Sonith didn't wish to chase. He had just eaten a few hours ago, and was now tired. Not to mention the gray weather increased his drowsiness. So, instead, he remained settled on his and L'tarel's weyr's ledge. He'd leave Depth's flight to the lower ranked dragons.
Brookth decided to join in. Hey, why not? The Stream was up and off, chasing after the Red with the other males.

Depth took off into the dark sky, tilting around the banks of cloud as she rose higher and higher into the sky. The darkness was so thick, that she never broke the cloud layer as she reached the highest point of her ascent.

((Ascent, dear. Not accent.))
Faith followed, crooning quite persuasively to the Red as he stuck just behind her, expending much of his energy early on. If he had a lead, he would be more likely to win- against a mere Stream? Of course.

Depth is rising
G'lin did not reply as the Stone leapt from the weyrledge out into the rain. If Marbleth wanted to chase, he wasn't going to stop him, or even try to. He started making his way otu through the rain, not phased by it.
Marbleth moved quickly, eager to catch up with Depth and the other males. So what if he was the lowest rank? He'd try anyway.

Depth circled above her followers, and then dove between then all, wanting to see what they'd do in reaction.

Faith wasted no time in arrowing after her, his greater weight speeding his fall. He was inches- inches- from her tail. He had to Catch this one.

Brookth followed too. Sure, he was lower ranked than the Forest, but he wasn't able to let that stop him. He hated being pushed around by the bigger dragons. He dove after her as she went between them, ready to keep the chase going.

Who followed? Who was worthy? Depth, having eaten quite a bit, was already heavy in the air. She looked over her shoulder at her pursuers. Faith! She wanted Faith!
