Sonya had known it was coming. Death had been moody and her hide had become an exceptionally lovely and shiny shade of Gold. The only thing about her that wasn't shiny was that skull shaped marking on her head. For some reason, it remained the same paler yellow lightning of color it had always been. Even the messy blood red splotch had looked a bit more shimmery than usual. Oh well, it didn't bother Sonya. The markings never bothered her before, and she wasn't bothered by the fact that just one small area on her beautiful dragon's hide was pale while the rest was glimmering. The Gold was even more moody than usual as she awoke. Sonya could sense the lust on her dragon's mind. But, before Death could leap off the edge of their weyr, something happened. The pair was suddenly hit by an extremely realistic vision, as if they were there, surrounded by thousands of people screaming in terror. People running everywhere, people screaming, the ground shaking, thunder and lightning shook the sky, and there was tons and tons of water. There was no escape. Then, as soon as it had come, it was gone. Sonya gasped. She stumbled, grabbing her dresser for balance as she suddenly felt light-headed. She had no idea what had just happened, but she could still hear the horrible screaming in her head, as well as the roar coming from Death. That life-like vision had come from Death's mind. But why? What happened? Sonya, however, didn't have much time to dwell on it, as the screaming died out and a sudden urge for blood came from her dragon. Death sprang off the ledge, went to the feeding grounds, and landed on the closest beast. Blood it! Sonya yelled as the Gold prepared to eat it. After a second of hesitation from Death, and a strong controlling urge from Sonya, the Gold complied and blooded the animal. After a few more, Death leaped into the air, bugling a challenge to the male dragons as Sonya's mind merged with her dragon's.

Marinoth's head jerked up.
Queen.
Rising.
"MARINOTH, DON'T YOU DARE!" K'rion yelled frantically, but it was no good. The Spector had launched himself towards the Feeding Pens, snagged a herdbeast, and drained it of blood. After a second one, he sprang into the air and bugled happily at the Gold.
Good luck, Death!
K'rion, poor boy, had no choice but to head to the Goldrider's weyr. How a fourteen Turn old had gotten caught up in this, he would never know... if he was lucky, his dragon would be too young, too...
All he could do was try and block the Spector's feelings from his mind. Shield his mind, shield his mind... It sort of worked. So far.
But you never knew...
Yet another thing that could only happen at Noelan Weyr...

Adath was very, very, very interested. She was so... shiny. And pretty. And... shiny. He usually didn't think like this, and therefore was aware that something was off. But... he just wanted to... Chase. So badly. So he did. Raiden... about had a heart attack herself. Oh. Lord. Nothing she could do...

Sonith's attention was imedately snapped to the Gold as she flew to the feeding grounds. Queen rising meant he must chase. The Bronze quickly joined the other kings in the chase, very interested and wanting nothing more than to catch Death. There was no way he would be sitting this one out! L'tarel on the other hand.... Well, he was a bit less enthusiastic. The last conscious thought he had before his mind was pulled into his Bronze's was that the rider of the dragon his was chasing just so happened to be his sister. There was nothing he could do to try and stop Sonith as the Bronze eagerly chased after the Gold.
Males! Kings! Death loved them. She flew fast, putting more dragonlengths in between her and the three kings currently chasing her. She was enjoying herself quite a bit. And she would make them work for it, she wouldn't be caught easily. Doing an elegant mid-air flip, she soared upwards, crooning seductively back to the males, egging them on.

Marinoth shot after the Gold, crooning admiringly. He so wanted to Catch this Queen, this shining Golden Queen. He soared upwards after her, bugling happily as he did so.
He began to croon again, affectionately, as he chased the great Gold dragoness. He was the youngest dragon here, if only by a few minutes in the Storm's case, but by the first shell that cracked, he was determined to prove himself worthy of the shining Queen.

Baynath knew, as soon as Death went to the feeding grounds. He knew he would chase her, and perhaps even catch her. So what if he wasn't a king? And she was beautiful. She outshone the sun in her radiance, certainly worthy for him to pursue.
And for once, L'dros almost agreed. Baynath was certainly the equal of any king he had met; he only wished that Baynath didn't decide to chase every female that took to the skies. Part of his superiority complex, most likely.

I should fly! C'rin scrambled to his ledge and stuck his arms out, as if that would keep the Darkness from going. "No! Look what happened last time you went flying!" I was chosen. Mith wasn't seeing the problem here. That was the problem for the Weyrleader. "No! You're not flying! Go...cuddle Lykath or something." Good idea, C'rin. Mith wasn't going to fly, because C'rin would definately kill himself if he woke up next to Sonya.
Luckily, Black has three other male dragons to do this with.
E'ren had been quite peacefully playing with his kittens when Oranth let him know. I fly, the Blue said this rather quietly, but his rider had heard. Not one to complain or forcefully object, so despite his doubts, he followed the other male riders with a sigh. He really didn't feel like dealing with this now. He was more interested in the Candidates he'd have to prepare. Of course, the epidemic meant he wouldn't be getting any new students, but even so...
Hm? What? Breath slumped over his rider, pushing him off his bed. My clutchsister Rises. "And you wont be able to catch you," Ar'lyr mumbled, drawing a pillow under his head to resume sleep, sounding as excited at the Hart. But I am fast. I might-"No." And that was that. Breath had not wholly been interested in the first place.
Another Blue peered out from his ledge, watching the events. OH. BAYNATH! he squealed. Yes, squealed. J'din looked up from what he was reading. "What?" his voice was deadpan, offering little hope for the Blue's participation. Baynath is chasing Death! I shall cheer from the sidelines! Gooooo BAYNATH! "Oh, shut up," the Bluerider growled, letting his eyes fall back on the book. It was far more interesting than Salaronth's continued adoration for the Bone. At least it meant he wouldn't be competing against him. J'din really couldn't be bothered about a flight.

Lykath, who isn't really involved, snarled ominously at Mith. Don't you dare, she growled. You are mine. With a suspicious glance at the younger Gold- how dare that brat try to steal her squishy-kins?!- she coiled around him, contining to mutter furiously to herself. Theo nearly exploded trying not to laugh.

Miles and seas away, on the northern Continent no less, violent earthquakes shook the earth, sending buildings collapsing to crush their inhabitants and shaking Holds to bits.

Marinoth was - to put it mildly- irritated when a Bone and older Spector showed up. Another King! And who did that Bone think he was? He hissed at the others, speeding up. He wasn't going to lose, no way, not this Flight.
And...what on Pern?! A Blue?! Was the creature mad?! Feh, no way in the Pernese version of Hell was HE losing to a BLUE.
Crooning at Death, he flew slighty beneath her, keeping his wingbeats steady; reserving his energy, as he was sure the others were doing. They's have to be bloody stupid not to.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beneath was watching and singing his favorite 'Do You Know The Dragonman?' song.
Fia was plotting ways to kill all the insects in the Weyr. Except Beneath's precious butterflies.
Fia was terrified of Flights. Yes, something terrified the fearless Fia. Will wonders never cease?
And even Beneath was sane enough to know he stood no chance of catching a Gold.
Thank Faranth.

Oh, Oranth knew he stood little chance, but it had been far too long since he'd done this, and his wings were feeling a little cramped. His refused to let him chase very often as most of those who flew now had been his students previously. But the lure of a Gold was too strong, and though there was no way he'd catch her, he still had to try. Well, lazily anyway, as he kept to back. E'ren just rolled his eyes.
Mith was more pleased than confused about the sudden 'attack' from Lykath. He crooned happily, and C'rin had to turn away, giving Theo a pointed look. "Better be careful, or we might have our own mating flight happen." Indeed, mating flights did effect everyone in some way...but that shouldn't be spoken of in this thread.

Adath was showing off, quite uncharacteristically, performing barrel-rolls and swoops, crooning a lovely little song for the pretty Gold.
------------------------------
"Eek," Theo said sarcastically. Lykath grumbled.

All across the Southern Continent, including directly over the Weyr, violent storms poured themselves into the sky, knocking dragons and people asunder and tearing up foliage in a sudden attack.

So many strong, handsome dragons to chose from! Death was absolutely delighted when more had joined in, kings or not. After quite a while though, she began to grow tired, and decided to make her decision. And the fact that it was becoming very stormy and it was hard to fly in a straight line. It was a tough decision. But, the Gold finally made up her mind after reviewing each dragon in her head, thinking of a few specific dragons that caught her eye more than once. Pivoting in mid air she flew back the way she had come, towards the pack of male dragons, and found the one she wanted. Intertwining with the Bronze, her and Sonith fell from the sky, spreading their wings to slow the decent.
